Etsu Nupe canvasses attractive agric sector for youth interest+
The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has canvassed for a more attractive agriculture in order to capture the interest of teeming Nigerian youths in the sector, NaijaAgroNet reports.
Abubakar who was conferred with the Grand Patron of Arewa Young Farmers Initiative (AYFI) in Bida, said with the fall in oil prices, the need to encourage youths to engage in agriculture cannot be over-emphasised.
He, therefore, stated that government at all levels and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector should provide the enabling environment for the youths to engage in agriculture as an alternative source of earning for the country.
The EtsuNupe, NaijaAgroNet gathered, also called on leaders in the North to devise strategies using agriculture to check unemployment and take idling youths from the streets in the region, saying that the problems of unemployment and poverty can be tackled through agriculture.
He pledged to support any organisation or group that is ready to boost agriculture in Niger State and Nigeria because it is one of the ways that the nation could achieve its full economic potential.
