DMWA targets partnerships across West and Central Africa in oil & gas

Oil and gas advisory, E&P and trading firm, has set up DMWA Resources to seek robust partnerships across the West and Central Africa, reports NaijaAgroNet.

DMWA, NaijaAgroNet gathered, capitalized on the extensive African knowledge and experience of its management and the financial firepower of large institutions to become the partner of choice for Africa’s governmental and private oil & gas institutions.

NaijaAgroNet equally gathered that the company is the brainchild of Sebastian Wagner, who previously worked as Business Developer and Trading Operations Manager for Trafigura and associated firms, managing oil trades across the barrel of African crude and refined products while simultaneously pursuing pre-financing opportunities with West and Central African sovereigns.

Executive Director of the company, Mr. Wagner said, DMWA Resources is a knowledge and relationship-driven oil and gas advisory firm.

“Our African-specific expertise provides a strong platform to showcase our value in the markets where we seek to provide advisory services, acquire prospective acreages and specialize in the resale of crude oil, natural gas and refined products. We assist our private sector partners in the industry’s ongoing consolidation, as well as our governmental clients in their financial and knowledge-based recapitalization,” he said.

DMWA Resources is targeting various regions across Africa, including Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville and Ghana. The company offers a range of petroleum industry and fiscal advisory services and partners with world-class partners with the capacity to undertake E&P ventures in Africa's oil and gas sector. DMWA is built on a flat structure and is financially and structurally independent, which allows the company to partner with the energy industry’s heavyweights.

On June 6-7, 2016, DMWA will sponsor the Africa Oil & Power conference in Cape Town, South Africa, joining industry elites Gunvor Group, Marathon Oil, RoyalGate Energy, DeltaTek Group, General Electric and Centurion Law Group. DMWA will host a reception gathering African energy ministers, IOC’s, NOC’s and financial institutions. Mr. Wagner will moderate a Projects & Prospects Panel that discusses the reasons for success or failure of oil and gas projects in Africa’s competitive marketplace.

India aligns relation with Africa on AU 2063 agenda

The India Secretary (West) in the external affairs ministry, Navtej Sarna, has said that India is aligning its relations with Africa alongside Agenda 2063 by the African Union, NaijaAgroNet reports.

He said India and Africa have been "brothers in arms in the fight against apartheid and colonialism,"  adding that there is a positive move towards democracy among African countries and following the adoption of the Agenda 2063 by the African Union, India is aligning its relations with Africa alongside this agenda, a global strategy to optimize use of Africa’s  resources for the benefit of all African and an Integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the global arena.

Sarna, said that India's approach to ties with African countries was that of partnership adding that education and skill development is another area crucial to India-Africa relations.
Agriculture, blue economy and security are key aspects of India's ties with African countries, he said recently while addressing the media ahead of the third India Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) to be held late October.

He said India has also given a line of credit of $7.4 billion, about N1.47 trillion to Africa which is being utilised in 137 projects across 41 countries, NaijaAgroNet learnt.

"India has played a key role in terms of security in Africa. We have had 11 peace keeping forces. Even now, we have four peace keeping forces deployed there and 4,500 security personnel on the ground there." Sarna also said that Indian Navy has also played a key role in the east coast of Africa in terms of curbing piracy.

Blue economy was another area of cooperation India was building on with Africa, he noted. "Blue economy or ocean economy is very important for Africa. We are in talks with countries like Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Seychelles and Mauritius," he said. He identified agriculture as another area of partnership.

"Despite having vast arable land, Africa still needs to get food from outside," said Sarna, adding that getting people from outside to farm agricultural land would be another point of discussion among the leaders.

South-West youths set Power, agriculture as agenda for Buhari

NaijaAgroNet

The Youth Alliance Movement of Nigeria (YAMON) South –West zone, has called on the incoming administration led by General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to give priority attention to provision of electricity and infrastructural development to boost economic prosperity of the country, NaijaAgroNet reports.

Comrade Akanni Michael, the national president of the group, outlined areas they hope could transform the country if well harnessed in a press briefing held at the weekend in Lagos. He said that the incoming administration must revamp the power and agricultural sectors as well as encourage industrialization.

In his words, NaijaAgroNet gathered,  “Generate, transmit and distribute from current 5,000 – 6,000 MW to, at least, 15,000 MW of electricity by 2020 and increasing to 50,000MW by 2025 with a view to achieving uninterrupted power supply by 2025 whilst simultaneously ensuring development of sustainable, renewable energy.”

“A cue could be taken from the Food Corporation of India, which has played a significant role in transforming the Indian food economy. It operates through a country- wide network of institutions and infrastructures at the zonal, regional and district level. Nigerians should consider only those leaders who pay special attention to the following aspects of agricultural development.”

“This can be achieved by application of modern and indigenous technologies; price assurance for farm produce; special incentives for private sector involvement; local government involvement; construction of feeder roads; development of crop sub-sector.

He insists that “government will need to modernize the sector and change Nigeria from being a country of selfsubsistence farmers to that of a medium, commercial scale farming nation/producer,
NaijaAgroNet reports.

Epidemic looms in Awka-North , Anambra East and West, Anyamelum

… 0ver 14 dead bodies dumped in Ezu River @ Ugwuoba

Apprehension best described the mood in Ugwuoba Enugu state when they woke to see over 14 lifeless bodies of human beings partly dressed floating on the Ezu River, Ugwuoba, a boundary town with Anambra state.

The Ezu River flowing down to Ugwuoba from a town called Agbaogugu is located between Ugwuoba community in Enugu state and Amansea community in Anambra state.

The lifeless bodies sighted Friday morning were already decomposing an indication that they were dumped some days back somewhere at the Ugwuoba end of the Ezu River before the bodies flew down to the bridge and where people could see them. Some wore pants, some wore singlet and others outright naked.

By Saturday evening, over 60 policemen in three patrol vehicles from Enugu State and Anambra State were there struggling to unravel the mystery behind the dumping of lifeless bodies at the Ezu River Ugwuoba , Enugu State. A boundary town to Amansea , Awka North of Anambra state.

The policemen came in patrol vehicles with registration Number NPF 117 C, with inscription Anambra Cobra squad B division; NPF 2347 C Enugu State Anti robbery squad and another plateless van written Cobra squad.

The police were not harassing anybody as they just watch and discuss on the possible actions to be taken even as more than one thousand people have visited the scene since the news broke Friday morning to have a glance of the life less bodies, especially if any is someone they know.

The leaders of Amansea and Awka North local government as well as the Anambra state Government have all visited the scene in sympathy of the Ugwuoba community and Save Our Soul cry to the Enugu state government to come to the scene for further actions. They confirmed there were no gun shots last night.

The Awka North leaders were concerned about the epidemic the decomposing bodies will cause all those in the Ezu River bank from Ugwuoba to River Niger as many depend on the River for their daily chores and drinking.

The traditional ruler of Amansea Igwe Kenneth Okonkwo and members of his cabinet as well as Member representing Awka North in the state House of Assembly , Hon Rebecca Udoji as well as Chairman of Awka North local government area , Hon Joy Enweluzor all condemned the perpetrators of the heinous act against humanity.

The victims are allegedly from Igbo race and too numerous questions raised by indigenes and visitors alike could not be answered by anybody at the scene.

The questions included who killed as many as over fifty or up to hundred if not more than one hundred people? Who dumped them in the only source of river for over 100 communities stretching from Enugu State to Anambra State, even up to the River Niger through Omambala (Anambra) River?

There is a police check point near the River where these bodies were found and nobody was arrested or seen committing the sacrilege against humanity by polluting water flow that many villagers drink and use for domestic chores?

Who gave the decomposing bodies machete cuts? Some were even sinister by asking was it not Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police that decongested their prisons of criminal suspects? Others were of the view but why would they dump them in the River instead of burying them?

Anambra State Government noted that although the sad event was not in their territory as it was Ugwuoba axis that it happened had sent a Save Our Soul (SOS) call to Enugu State Government and its police commissioner to come and investigate the deposit of many lifeless bodies in the Ezu River.

Governor Peter Obi represented by the Commissioner for Local government   Affairs , Hon Azuka Enemuo and a team of her local government chairmen including Awka North , Hon Joy Enweluzor whose communities from Amansea to Ugbene, Ugbenu and Awba-Ofemmili to Amanuke and Achalla even Mgbakwu and Urum will suffer the water pollution and subsequent epidemic.

Others with Azuka’s entourage to the scene included Chairman of Chairmen Hon Daza Udeozor, Onitsha South Ugochukwu Ezeani , Orumba South North Emeka Aforka among others.

Hon Enweluzor whose territory was seriously affected could not utter a word as she was surprised and speechless on man’s inhumanity against man in this age and time especially with the pollution and imminent water disease which may leads to epidemic.

The Anambra State Police Public Relation Officer, Mr Ralp Uzoigwe allegedly reported to have said his command was not aware of the dumping of lifeless bodies but efforts to get the Enugu State PPRO Ebere Amarizu to confirm whether SARS of Enugu State of the Police dumped bodies to decongest cells in Enugu State was not successful.
