Agropreneurs in constant fund seeking marathon

 Majority entrepreneurs in the agro-business industry are always seeking for fund as more candidates interested in the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) are those interested in the agricultural sector exploration, reports NaijaAgroNet.

NaijaAgroNet recalls that the $100 million fund by the entrepreneur extraordinary, Mr. Tony Elumelu, opened its portal for registration on December 31, 2014 and has welcomed applications from over 20 countries in not more than 12 hours.

The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) NaijaAgroNet reports, was designed to empower African entrepreneurs which was launched in Lagos State by thechairman of Heirs Holdings Mr Tony Elumelu.

The CEO of Tony Elumelu Foundation DrWiebe Boer, said that the top agendaof the programme is agriculture which have the power to transform Africa by creating more jobs, provide food and reduce hunger.

 “The top one is agriculture, which I think is also very interesting because if you think of where agriculture was as a sector in Africa about five years ago, it was seen as something about poverty, treachery, young people certainly won’t want anything to do about agriculture,” said Boer.

African countries agree to co-operate on weather prediction

African countries in the horn region of the continent has agreed to come together and share ideas that will help scientists and researchers in climate change factor, such as flood and drought, reports NaijaAgroNet.

This was part of communique from the Greater Horn of Africa Climate Outlook forum in Nairobi, where they concluded that regional approach is the best way to make stronger weather predictions.

Kenya’s Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Richard Lesiyampe advised participants to partner with the regional metrological services to always adapt modern technologies in order to enhance weather predictions as effective weather predictions will help tackle climate change.

"Effective weather prediction will enhance our capacity to plan for the future because the Horn of Africa region has suffered due to inability to predict extreme weather,” said Lesiyamp.

Executive Secretary,Intergovernmental Authority on Drought (IGAD) MahboubMaalim, also said at the forum that donors have pledged new financial promises to improve metrological infrastructure in the Horn of Africa.

40 air traffic controllers honoured

Following the recent examination of the air traffic controllers, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has been honored with optimistic ranking of 40 air traffic controllers.

Disclosing this in Abuja,the Managing Director, NAMA, Engineer Ibrahim Abdulsalam, gave this commendation to the agency staff for their performance.

He also expressed self-assurance saying that the ranking will not only encourage the personnel but it is going to boost the workforce of the agency, mostly in Area Rader Control Service.

“The critical manpower capacity of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, (NAMA) was given a boost last week with the rating of 40 Air Traffic Controllers by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA),” he said.
