A new era for agricultural development in Oyo State officially began today as Vice-President Kashim Shettima (represented by Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari), African Development Bank (AfDB) President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, and Governor 'Seyi Makinde broke ground for the Oyo State Agribusiness Industrial Hub in Ijaiye, reports NaijaAgroNet.

This Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) is set to be a game-changer for economic growth and job creation.

Both Vice-President Shettima and AfDB President Adesina commended Governor Makinde's dedication to transforming Oyo State through agriculture. 

Senator Kyari, speaking on behalf of the Vice-President, highlighted the project's potential to unlock opportunities for residents and foster strategic partnerships. 

Dr. Adesina praised Makinde's "exemplary leadership" and vision, noting the success of the existing Fasola Agribusiness Hub, which has attracted significant private investment.

Governor Makinde reiterated that the Ijaiye hub aligns with his administration's commitment to make agriculture a commercial powerhouse. 

He emphasized that these hubs connect producers to processors and markets, transforming rural areas and creating prosperity. The Governor also revealed plans for future hubs in other zones, ensuring equitable development across the state.

The Ijaiye Agribusiness Industrial Hub is expected to host over 40 agricultural industries, create over 100,000 jobs, and support the livelihoods of more than 500,000 farmers, according to Dr. Debo Akande, Director-General of OYSADA. 

The project underscores a shared vision for a more productive and food-secure Nigeria.
