The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) received in taxes and royalties the total sum of $1.09 billion, about N2,707,310,000,000.00 trillion, as at December 2023 through the operations of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company of Nigeria Ltd (SNEPCo.) in the country, reports NaijaAgroNet.

Sources close the Shell Nigeria, disclosed that the figures, recently published in the 2023 Shell Briefing Notes, showed that SPDC paid $442 million, while SNEPCo remitted $649 million.

In its latest Cereal Supply and Demand Brief, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) informed that its preliminary forecast for world wheat production in 2023, predicting a global outturn of 784 million tonnes, which would be the second highest on record though down from the previous year.
