The Lagos State chapter of the Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) has held its first quarterly meeting for the year 2021, with capacity building of members topping agenda, reports NaijaAgroNet.
CS-SUNN is a coalition membership organisation, with attendance drawn from both virtually and limited physical participation in compliance to COVID-19 protocols.
Welcoming participants, the Lagos State chapter coordinator, Dr. Modupe Akinyinka, said that the meeting was in fulfillment of its mandate to improve the lots of members and Lagosians in general in line with good nutrition values.
She also said the first quarterly meeting is to get the chapter set for the work ahead in this new year so as to begin early to prepare and prioritise its priorities.
In addition, she said that members capacity building would be a continuous part of this quarterly meetings.
Akinyinka reminded participants including leadership of Media Against Child Malnutrition (MeCAM Nigeria) of the vision and mission of CS-SUNN which they ought to hold dearly to heart as programmes are initiated in this new year.
According to her, CS-SUNN mission is to “mobilize Non State Actors to advocate, generate evidence, build capacity and stimulate communities to scale up nutrition in Nigeria,” while its vision is to see “A country where every citizen has food and is nutrition secured.”
During the meeting, the chapter secretary, Mrs. Eberechukwu Okey-Onyema gave the 2020 overview, while there was review of year 2021 strategic plan, nutrition education, minimum nutrition package, social exercise.
The public relations officer of the chapter, Mrs Celia Pen coordinated the session on membership drive, fund raising and partnership.
The duo of Mrs. Ewa and Mr. Lanre Olotu took charge of the session on capacity building on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), they held the importance of how to report on PSEA-related cases as CSO members.
MeCAM was represented at the meeting by the National Coordiantor, Remmy Nweke and Director of Outreach, Mrs. Julie Ekong.
