The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development (Centre LSD) under her BUILD grant by Ford Foundation is set to build the Capacity of representatives of Mining Host Communities & Artisanal Miners in Taraba State, with the aim of mainstreaming gender in the various value chains of the extractive industry.
A press statement by Ms. Victoria Ose Udoh, Programme Co-ordinator of the Centre said, the training is the third in the series and is designed to run for 3 days. According to her, the 3-day training is expected to commence on the 13th through to 15th of October 2021. The training is expected to deepen participants knowledge on leadership and organization, negotiation, Crafting Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)/Community Development Agreement (CDA), public speaking, livelihood, entrepreneurship, gender in the extractives, amongst others.
According to her, participants will be drawn from all the mining host communities in the State. These participants will include women, men, youth, traditional and religious leaders, CBOs, FBOs and representatives of mining companies. The training is designed to bring all of them to speed in the areas listed above to enhance their participation and ensure that no one or group of persons is left behind in the extractive discourse.
Udoh therefore enjoined the members of the public who may not be able to attend in person to follow the conversations via the Centre LSD social media handles as we work to collectively make women inclusion and participation in the extractive sector a reality
