All is now set for the 3rd ECOWAS People’s Agriculture Budget Summit 2021 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria, reports NaijaAgroNet.

The summit, NaijaAgroNet gathered, is a two-day event, holding at Hawthorn Suites, Abuja with participants from various parts of the continent and particularly West Africa, with the theme “The State of Public Financing for Agriculture in ECOWAS Member States.”

Managing Director, Shell Nigeria Gas & President Nigerian  Gas Association , Ed Ubong has called for urgent strategy to grow Nigeria’s capacity in the gas sub-sector. This, according to him, would ensure that gas is used to spur industrial development across all parts of the country.

“We need to begin the process of retooling seasoned oil professionals to work in the growing gas sector, provide foundational training for young professionals and engineering graduates and actively  supporting indigenous companies to build capacity that will allow them deliver world class services in the gas value chain,” Ubong said at the just-concluded Practical Nigeria Content Forum held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has pledged to settle all verified outstanding claims by its contractors in its efforts to facilitate sustainable development of the oil-rich region.

A source close to the Interim Administrator of the Commission who spoke on condition of anonymity said the NDDC boss was saddened that contractors who had done their jobs were still being owed many years after completion.

Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company (AEEPCO), operator of the NNPC/Aìteo Joint Venture on OML 29, has said that it has reached an advanced stage to cap the broken wellhead at its Santa Barbara, Southwest field, in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Aiteo had on Wednesday assured the Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva that the gushing wellhead would be secured within 48 hours in view of the progress its team of technical experts had made.

The UNICEF has welcomed the signing into law of the Sokoto State Child Protection Bill, saying it was a “major step forward for children’s rights in Nigeria.”

Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal signed the bill into law on 22 November, 18 years after the Federal Government of Nigeria enacted the Child Rights Act 2003 and urged state governments to domesticate the Act into State law.
