The Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) has commended the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his executive members for approving the state Policy and Strategic Plan of Action, reports NaijaAgroNet.

NaijaAgroNet, the alliance was birthed in November, 2013 at Ilorin, Kwara State, and formally inaugurated on the 7th of August, 2014.
The acting Executive Secretary, CS-SUNN, Mr. Sunday Okoronkwo gave this commendation on Wednesday at the Sheraton Lagos during the formal launch of the state policy on food and nutrition as well as the multi-sectoral strategic plan of action.
“We commend the state for the progress made so far,” he declared.
Also, some of the progresses include the approval and implementation of six (6) months maternity leave with pay.
In addition, Lagos got CS-SUNN applause for creating specific budget lines with allocation in nine Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in year 2020.
He reminded the gathering that malnutrition comes in many forms including stunting, wasting and obesity.
For the stunt malnutrition, Okoronkwo cited the Global Nutrition Report of 2015, saying that this happens when people are too short for their age, wasting is when people are too thin for their height and obesity is when overweight occurs in human buildup or body weight.
The impact, he said is that sustained high rate of stunting would adversely affect human capital and economic progress.
The actions of Lagos State under Gov. Sanwo-Olu who was represented at the launch by the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Sam Egube, he said, have shown that the government cares.
“It shows the current government cares and is interested in the wellbeing of its citizens and future of its children as good nutrition is key to economic growth of the state,” CS-SUNN Executive Secretary said.
As said by him, with this the road map is ready and what is required now is for the state executives and well-meaning Lagosians comprising indigenes, companies, philanthropist should commit to fund its implementation.
CS-SUNN delegation to the event was led by the Chairman, Steering Committee at CS-SUNN, Mr. Ifedilichukwu Ekene Innocent, in the company of the Lead on Partnership and Collaboration, Mrs. Eberechukwu M. Okey-Onyema and the Lagos State CS-SUNN coordinator, Dr. Mrs Modupe Akinyinka, National Coordinator, Media Centre Against Child Malnutrition (MeCAM), Remmy Nweke, to name but a few members of the coalition.
