NaijaAgroNet: ... Linking agrobiz, sustainable environs, people & technology

The Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition Nigeria (CS-SUNN) has supported three states in the latest efforts to domesticate the National Committee on Food and Nutrition (NCFN) Terms of Reference for operationalization at the states, reports
NaijaAgroNet.

These states, NaijaAgroNet gathered included Nasarawa, Kaduna and Niger.

Source close to CS-SUNN national secretariat, confirmed to NaijaAgroNet that they have supported some State Committees on Food and Nutrition in Nigeria to domesticate.

This, NaijaAgroNet also gathered, arose from a two-day workshop held in Abuja between January 27th-28th January 2022.

According to our source, the meeting of about 31 participants, had Permanent Secretaries of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), State Nutrition Officers, Executive Directors of State Primary Health Care Development Boards, Deputy Directors of MDAs, Planning Officers, the Media and CS-SUNN staff in attendance.

The SCFN representatives from Kaduna, Nasarawa and Niger states broke into groups to domesticate the ToR using the NCFN ToR as guide. The domesticated ToRs reflected structure of the SCFN, purpose, main tasks and responsibilities, lifespan, membership, leadership, accountability mechanisms, working methods, meeting procedures, information sharing mechanisms and guiding documents.

The gathering successfully developed near-final ToRs for the Kaduna, Niger and Nasarawa SCFN. In the coming weeks, it is expected that the NCFN reviews the submissions by the SCFN before printing and operationalization of the ToRs in the states. CS-SUNN will also support Kano and Lagos SCFN to domesticate the ToR. The NCFN/SCFN ToR outlines the guiding tenets on the functionality of the committee geared towards ensuring food and nutrition security for all Nigerians.
